Fishing Holidays
Scotland is renowned as a popular destination for fishing holidays and angling breaks with a number of spectacular rivers, lochs, sea fishing opportunities within easy reach of the Abbotsford.
World famous salmon and trout rivers such as the River Tweed, River Tay, River Spey and the River Dee are all within travelling distance while an abundance hill lochs and commercial stillwater fisheries provide fishing for wild brown trout, rainbow trout and carp.
Nearby Loch Lomond and River Leven provide excellent salmon and trout fishing.

Walking
Situated on the border of Scotland’s first National Park the Abbotsford is ideally located to provide easy access for anyone wishing to experience Scotland's fantastic walking and climbing opportunities.
Scotland has nearly 300 mountains above 3,000ft, known as Munros, and Ben Lomond is the closest at little more than 30 minutes away.
Also within easy travelling distance is the start of the 95 mile-long West Highland Way, a world famous walking route from Milngavie in Glasgow to Fort William.
Whisky Trail
Whisky, derived from the Gaelic for 'water of life', uisge beatha, is one of Scotland's most famous exports and in recent years distillery tours have become a popular attraction for visitors from around the world.
Recognised by Scotland-Whisky, as a dedicated Scotch Whisky Embassy Hotel, the Abbotsford is the ideal place to embark on the whisky trail.
Our staff have been trained in appreciating whisky and are only too happy to pass on their knowledge to inquisitive guests.
Our well-stocked bar carries a wide selection of over 40 malt whisky's and 10 blended whisky's in keeping with an area which was traditionally a major centre of the whisky industry in the mid to late 20th century.
We can help arrange tours of the nearby Glengoyne and Auchentoshan distilleries, both of which are just a few miles away, while Glasgow is also home to several specialist whisky pubs and shops.
